Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Karad organised Inaugural Ceremony of 6th National Pharmacovigilance Program Week 2026 under the theme “Promoting Rational Use of Medicines through Pharmacovigilance: A Step Towards Safer Healthcare”

The 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week - 2026 was inaugurated at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (DU), Karad on 17th September 2026, at 10:00 am at Tierra Hall (S1) in the esteemed presence of Dr Vijay V. Kanase (Medical Director, Krishna Charitable Hospital & Research Centre) served as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Dr Vishal Patil (KLE College of Pharmacy, KLE University, Belgavi) and Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav (Dean, Krishna Institute of Pharmacy). The main objective of the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026 is to promote a culture of rational and safe medicine use by empowering healthcare professionals, pharmacists, patients, and the public to recognize, report, and prevent adverse drug reactions. On this inaugural event the dignitaries released the ICT material on the theme “Promoting Rational Use of Medicines through: A Step Towards Safer Healthcare” designed by the KIP Pharm. D. Interns for raising Pharmacovigilance the awareness within all the stakeholders.

Dr. Vijay V. Kanase (Medical Director, Krishna Charitable Hospital, Karad) The Medical Director highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance in promoting rational and safe use of medicines. He emphasized that timely identification and reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for strengthening patient safety and minimizing medicine-related risks. He also emphasized the important role of pharmacists in identifying, documenting, counselling, and facilitating reporting of suspected ADRs.

Dr. Namdeo R. Jadhav (Dean & Convener, KIP) highlighted the vital role of pharmacovigilance in identifying, reporting, and preventing adverse drug reactions and promoting patient safety. He encouraged faculty members, students, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and the public to actively participate in ADR reporting and contribute towards the rational and safe use of medicines.

The programme was further enriched by the visionary leadership, guidance, and continued support of Hon’ble Dr. Suresh Bhosale, Chancellor, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University); Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Chief Advisor to the Chancellor and KVV; Dr. Pravin H. Shingare, Principal Advisor, Academics and Accreditation; Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. M. V. Ghorpade, Registrar. Their steadfast leadership, encouragement, and commitment continue to inspire the University community to strive for academic excellence, foster innovation and research, strengthen industry engagement, uphold social responsibility, and promote global professional competence.

The inauguration set a positive tone for the week-long celebration of events from 17th to 23rd September 2026 with a workshop on network pharmacology, community pharmacy sensitisation by students through the distribution of ICT material, Seminar cum workshop on medicine safety from NABH perspective by distinguished experts, street play.

The program concluded with the vote of thanks from the program co-ordinator Dr. Bijoy Kumar Panda (Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Pharmacy Practice) reinforcing the commitment of the institution to one-line campaign message “Lets join hands with PvPI for patient safety”.
